Yale Law School Fund
Since 1949, the Yale Law School Fund has served as a vital resource for legal education at Yale, helping to maintain and advance the school’s unique, interdisciplinary legal curriculum. The fund receives contributions from alumni to support the Yale Law School faculty and provide financial aid for its students. It also benefits loan forgiveness programs and experience-enhancing academic offerings. Donors can direct their contributions to a variety of key areas, including the Financial Aid/Career Options Assistance Program, teaching and research, clinical programs, and the Yale Law School Library. To ensure that the fund directly aids the school’s community, the Yale Law School Fund Board distributes all donations within the same year that they are made.
Academic Excellence
Because it is financially independent from Yale University, Yale Law School relies heavily on its fund to supplement income from tuition, endowments, and additional alumni support. It draws on the generosity of fund donors to continue its reputation of academic excellence and intimacy, working to provide a world-class legal education with small class sizes, outstanding students and programs, academic rigor, and manageable tuition. The school has noted that students’ tuition accounts for only one-third of their educational expenses, with excess costs covered by alumni and outside donors who help to facilitate its world-renowned educational experience.
